In Britain there are two species of Hares. The Brown Hare Lepus capensis is found in mostly in lowland areas across much of Britain, while the Mountain Hare Lepus timidus  is a mammal of  mostly upland areas of northern Britain. It is however found generally across Ireland, even in lowland areas.
